American Society for Cell Biology
The American Society for Cell Biology (ASCB) was founded in 1960 to bring the varied facets of cell biology together. The society's objective is to provide for the exchange of scientific knowledge in the area of cell biology. It does so through the scholarly dissemination of research at its Annual Meeting and in its publications, and strives to ensure the future of basic scientific research by providing training and development opportunities for students and young investigators, and also by keeping Congress and the American public informed on the importance of biomedical research.
Since its founding, the ASCB has grown to more than 10,000 members. Members are located throughout the United States, and in 44 foreign countries. The Society is a member of the Internation Federation of Cell Biology, and the Coalition for Education in the Life Sciences (CELS)

The International Cell Death Society
The International Cell Death Society, with offices in New York, promotes research and understanding in all forms of cell death. The Society sponsor biannual meetings on current topics in the field, additionally supporting and sponsoring contacts among researchers interested in the topic. Recent meetings have been held in the USA, Spain, Australia, Ireland, Brazil, and China, with ancillary meetings in France and Iran. Upcoming meetings (as of January 2009) include South Africa, Mexico, and Turkey.
Activities of the Society are posted at: http://www.celldeath-apoptosis.org. For further information, email webmaster@celldeath-apoptosis.org, or telephone +1-718-997-3417 (fax +1-718-997-3429)
